about

An 8-bit retro game inspired missive and a raw and infectious dancefloor destroyer, both recorded live and freestyle in the studio.

One of the most well-known and respected underground dance music producers of the 1990s and noughties, Jon Carter continues his comeback with more gusto and emotion than ever before. On this new release he collaborates with one of the finest house music producers in the UK — Steve Mac — on a new two-track EP out on Irvine Welsh’s Jack Said What imprint on the 8th November.

Together these two producers combine their sounds and skills to deliver an in your face, raw, 8-bit gaming inspired, thumping techno roller — bursting with acid bleeps and containing bags of punch and kick. ‘Finish Him!!’ — named after a t-shirt design glimpsed in infamous Glastonbury backstage bar Maceo’s — is designed specifically to destroy the dancefloor for any DJ that unleashes it. Think peak time, intensity and energy.

The track was recorded in the studio in one afternoon freestyle directly onto tape, contributing an extra level of authenticity to this acid house project — full of mad crazy synths and purposely not fitting into any pre-determined musical mould.

Track 2 is ‘Be Beautiful’ — an insane technoid pulveriser designed to deliver to create pure euphoria. With Classic SL12000 drum machine sampling and electronic analogue synthesizers being pushed to their limits, this is a super intense wall of funk.

Jon Carter has never been one to deliver music in half measures – on this release he shows how he is not afraid to push dance music to its limits.
